It’s that time of year again! Spring is coming, winter snow is melting away, and your fireplace won’t be seeing much use in the months ahead. Unfortunately, many homeowners think they can simply put out their last fire, then call it quits for the season, which isn’t the route we suggest taking. Rather, we urge our customers to invest in inspection, sweeping, and repair services to ensure their system stays in tip-top shape for the long haul.

All About Our Inspection Services

Here at Lou Curley’s Chimney Service, we offer three levels of chimney inspections. The first is the most basic, and if you’ve regularly invested in annual inspections in the past and have made no major changes throughout your structure (such as relining work or a change in fuel type), it should be all you need. Basically, your sweep will check all easily accessible parts of your chimney, and they’ll ensure no major damages or build-up is present. If everything looks good, you’re all set!

Other times, a more in-depth analysis will be required. This is where a level two inspection is warranted. How do you know if this is what you need? Well, if you’ve undergone any major changes in fuel type or invested in any reconstruction work, a level two inspection is highly recommended. They’ll also be needed after any natural disasters, such as a flood, tornado, hurricane, or earthquake, and they are required when buying or selling property, too.

What does a level two inspection entail? Well, we’ll do everything required in a level one inspection, and we’ll also use video equipment to get an up-close and in-depth look at your entire interior system. Once through, we’ll be able to determine if any further maintenance is necessary, ensuring you have everything you need to use your system as safely and as efficiently as possible throughout the next burning season.

Finally, there’s the level three inspection. These are less common and are only required in more extreme circumstances when the cause of your chimney troubles is hard to determine. In a level three inspection, parts of your chimney or fireplace may need to be removed or deconstructed in order to find the source of your issues. Again, these are only performed when absolutely necessary.

Repairs Are An Important Investment

Now, if your inspection revealed damages throughout the structure, some repair work may be warranted, and the sooner you invest in the care you need, the better! The longer you put off necessary repairs, the more your structure will suffer, and your chances of experiencing a settlement or collapse will heighten significantly. In the end, it is much more cost-effective (and a lot less stressful) to invest in repair work earlier on, rather than put off much-needed maintenance.

Whether you need a simple repair job complete or something more extensive, like a rebuild or restoration work, we’re here to help. We also can replace chimney components, like the chimney cap, damper, or flashing, as needed, and our experienced crew knows exactly where to look to find the root of your problems. If you’re ready to work with the best, we’re it, so call today!

Why We Suggest Ahren-Fire Products

Looking to improve your fireplace and increase efficiency without breaking the bank with a big restoration job? Then, we suggest investing in an Ahren-Fire system. These work especially well for those with a small flue or for those experiencing coding issues, and they are also great for those looking to get more heat from their appliance. Looking to minimize creosote accumulation and reduce issues with draft? These systems help with that, too. All around, they’re a great investment!

Our CSIA Certified Professionals Are The Ones To Trust

One thing’s for certain: when hiring a team of professionals to tackle your chimney needs, it’s always important to ensure they are certified with the CSIA. Why? Well, the CSIA is highly esteemed in this industry, and they hold the standard for chimney care and knowledge throughout the nation. Any reputable chimney company knows that if they want to set the bar high, a CSIA certification is a must! There is also a strict code of ethics that must be signed before anything is finalized, guaranteeing you the best care possible with no strings attached.

Fortunately for our customer base, our sweeps are CSIA certified, and we are also NFI certified and members of the NCSG. To top it off, we’re the preferred chimney company for many of the local HVAC contractors throughout the area, and we hold an A+ rating the BBB, as well. You won’t find a better team of experts throughout Delaware County!
