What Is The CSIA?CSIA logo

The chimney sweep world is ever-evolving, so staying informed on any new advancements or technologies is a must. That’s where the CSIA comes in! It is a nonprofit that aims to keep sweeps educated and on top of it all. It was formed back in 1983 and, ever since, has set the standard when it comes to training sweeps.

The CSIA also strives to educate homeowners on fireplace safety and potential hazards, so that they avoid experiencing things like gas leaks, house fires, and more. The higher-ups stay involved and active in the communities they serve and have helped countless fireplace owners live safer and more comfortable lives.

Why Are Certifications Important?

Now, not all chimney companies out there will require their sweeps to get certified. If the team you hire isn’t associated with the CSIA, will that really make a difference? The short answer – yes! CSIA certified sweeps go through training and they read many educational texts. All of this prepares them for an in-depth test that must be taken in order to receive their certification. And once all that is done, they are still required to recertify every three years.

It’s a simple truth that a certified sweep will be much more educated when it comes to protecting your home from carbon monoxide, smoke, and fire – all things commonly associated with running a faulty fireplace. In the end, it’s always better to trust a tech who is trained, experienced, and highly qualified, rather than settle for a subpar sweep who hasn’t taken the time to receive formal training.

We Are Qualified To Handle It All

Whether you are dealing with masonry damage, a broken down liner, busted up flashing, or something else, we are confident that we can tackle it all. Or, if you just need a simple inspection completed before the start of your burning season, we can handle that, too! Along with our CSIA certifications, we also hold certifications with the NFI and the FIRE, and we are members of the following organizations:

  • The Mid-Atlantic Chimney Association
  • The National Chimney Sweep Guild
  • The Mid-Atlantic Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association
  • The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association
  • The Pennsylvania Guild of Professional Chimney Sweeps

There’s no about it. When it comes to your chimney and fireplace, we know our stuff!

Annual Inspections Keep You Safer

The CSIA urges homeowners to invest in a chimney inspection every single year to ensure their system is free of creosote, dirt, debris, and damages before it gets used. Neglecting this maintenance could lead to gas leaks, chimney fires, and more, and we feel that there’s no room to take chances when it comes to the safety of your home and family. If you’re ready to set up an appointment with a team of reliable sweeps, call today. We’d be happy to help you every step of the way.
