Over the weekend I completed the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA)’s “Chimney Physics” 2-day course. This advanced course teaches airflow and pressure issues that influence chimney draft. Today’s tighter sealed houses have less air leakage, which can have a negative effect on the way your fireplace or heating appliances exhaust through the chimney. This class will help with diagnosing performance problems such as a smoking fireplace or a poorly drafting furnace.
