The community of Villanova straddles Lower Merion Township and Radnor Township and is a highly affluent suburb. The center of the community is located at the intersection of Lancaster Pike and Spring Mill. Villanova is home to two former NBA stars, Julius Erving and Dikembe Mutombo, the current head coach of the Villanova Wildcats Basketball team, Jay Wright, and several other notable residents.
Villanova University and the St. Thomas of Villanova Church are among some of the most iconic sights to see here in Villanova. Our little part of Montgomery and Delaware Counties is home to some of the most impressive real estate in the area as well as other notable sights. Make sure to visit these areas if you’re new to town or just passing through:
Bridge in Radnor Township No. 2 – Built in 1905, this 75-foot long bridge boasts a single 10 foot arch in the center. To say it’s beautiful is an understatement.
Camp-Woods – This is a historic estate that was built between 1910 and 1912 for James M. Willcox. The original mansion included formal gardens, a carriage house, and a tennis court, but these have been split into separate properties now. The inscription on the circular stone monument at the western edge of the property reads, “An outpost of George Washington’s Army encamped here thro the winter of Valley Forge 1777-1778.”
Ardrossan: The Last Great Estate on the Philadelphia Main Line – This impressive estate once comprised of about 900 acres of land. The estate was designed by Horace Trumbauer, built in 1911 and commissioned by Colonel and Mrs. Robert Leaming Montgomery.
Dining in Villanova
The beauty of Villanova isn’t the only great part about living in the area. We have some of the best restaurants along the Main Line and notable financial institutions as well. The Royal Bank of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania headquarters of the Wilmington Trust Company are also located here. We also enjoy some incredible school systems for younger students as well as Villanova University and Villanova University Law School.
Some of the best restaurants in Villanova include Azie on Main, Avenue Kitchen, Nova Mediterranean Grill, and First Watch – Villanova. These restaurants have earned at least 4.5 star ratings from people who review them on Facebook, and they’re great places to enjoy some time with great food, great drink, and great friends.
